Annual Leadership Launch

Join us for our annual signature professional development event! Featuring keynote speaker Shawn Sackman (Broward Market President, Truist), participants will learn about the importance of getting engaged in the community as a young professional. We will also have a workshop experience on the topic of Becoming a Master Networker, facilitated by Hayden Casson (Vice President, ABC Cares Foundation). Following the workshop, participants will engage in a speed networking event to put their learning into practice. The program will close with ways to get more involved with Emerge Broward. Lunch is included.

Following the event, we will head to an optional networking reception at the new Sidewalk Bottleshop, located at 901 Progresso Dr, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304. Our group will receive happy hour pricing on beverages and food specials. 

About Shawn Sackman

Shawn joined SunTrust now Truist in 2004 and currently serves as Broward Market President in the Commercial Community Bank. Previously, Shawn has served as Relationship Manger focusing on a variety of different segments including middle market, municipal and non-profit organizations as well as Commercial Team Leader and Market President for the Broward, Palm Beach and Treasure Coast markets. Most recently at Truist, Shawn served as Middle Market Banking Leader for South Florida.

Shawn has a strong partnership with the Investment Banking team and has executed a number of complex transactions to include syndication, corporate finance and M&A.

Shawn graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University with a double major in Finance and Marketing as well as a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Central Florida.

Shawn is very engaged in the community and was named one of the top 250 Power Leaders covering all industries by South Florida Business Journal (SFBJ) for 2019, 2020, and 2021. Additionally, Shawn was recognized the last three years in a row as one of the Power Leaders in Banking by the SFBJ, and top 40 under 40 at the age of 30 by both SFBJ and Gold Coast Magazine.

Shawn resides in Parkland, FL with his wife Melissa and his two amazing boys Owen and Patrick. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, coaching his boys in sports, and the occasional golf game.
