EB Code of Conduct

Emerge Broward is a growing community, and we want this growth to be respectful, welcoming, and collaborative. Our plurality of ethnicity, background, race, gender identity, political affiliation, and opinions is our strength. This strength requires physical and psychological safety as a foundation. The robustness and vibrancy of our community depends on it. To help clarify the expectations around this, we have added a code of conduct to our membership and events.

As a member of Emerge Broward, I hereby acknowledge and agree to abide by the following code of conduct:

1. Integrity and Transparency:

• I will conduct myself with integrity and honesty in all interactions related to Emerge Broward, both within the organization and in the broader community.
• I will be transparent in my actions and communications, disclosing any conflicts of interest that may arise and promptly addressing them in accordance with Emerge Broward's policies and procedures.

2. Commitment to Mission:

• I will uphold and promote the mission of Emerge Broward, which is to identify emerging leaders and young professionals in Broward County, connect them with each other and current community leaders, develop their ability to serve as community trustees, and engage them within the community.
• I will actively contribute to the advancement of Emerge Broward's goals and objectives, striving to make a positive impact on the organization and the community it serves.

3. Professionalism and Respect:

• I will treat all members, volunteers, staff, and stakeholders of Emerge Broward with respect, dignity, and professionalism, regardless of differences in background, perspective, or opinion.

• I will refrain from engaging in any behavior that could be perceived as discriminatory, harassing, or disrespectful, whether in-person or online, and I will report any such behavior to the appropriate representatives within Emerge Broward.
• I will always dress in a manner that is appropriate for events, meetings, and engagements representing Emerge Broward, adhering to the dress code listed on the event registration page. It is my commitment to ensure that my attire is suitable and reflects positively on the organization at all times.
• I understand the importance of maintaining appropriate boundaries, especially when interacting with vulnerable populations, including youth and individuals being served at volunteer events.
• I will not solicit or obtain personal contact information, such as phone numbers, from youth or individuals being served at volunteer events, unless expressly authorized to do so by Emerge Broward for organizational purposes.

4. Confidentiality:

• I will maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information shared within the context of Emerge Broward, including but not limited to discussions, documents, and member data, unless explicitly authorized to disclose such information by the organization.

5. Compliance and Accountability:

• I will comply with all of Emerge Broward's policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to conflicts of interest, financial management, and governance.
• I understand that I am accountable for my actions as a member of Emerge Broward and that failure to adhere to this code of conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of my membership with the organization.

By submitting my request for membership, I affirm my commitment to uphold the principles and standards outlined in this code of conduct agreement as a member of Emerge Broward.
